OH! ZONE 2012
Reuben H. Fleet Science Center's Annual Fundraiser
SATURDAY, MARCH 10, 2012
REUBEN H. FLEET SCIENCE CENTER
In San Diego’s beautiful cultural jewel, Balboa Park
The Friends of the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center, Trustees, event chair Jackie Sheid, and vice chairs Amee Alagiri and Dawn Grob invite you to join distinguished and diverse guests in celebration of the eleventh annual OH! Zone interactive party!
OH! Zone, known for its playful and relaxed atmosphere, captures the spirit of hands-on focused interaction that has become synonymous with the Fleet Science Center, with NO boring awards ceremonies, long speeches, or formal attire.
(6:00 PM – 8:00 PM) The festivities begin with a cocktail social hour, delicious tray passed hors d'oeuvres, and engaging science demonstrations, followed by a special presentation in the Eugene Heikoff and Marilyn Jacobs Heikoff Dome Theater.
(8:00 PM – Midnight) Enjoy a delicious dinner, casino games, Live DJ, and interactive exhibitions including "Geometry Playground."
Please help us continue our important work at the Fleet by attending, inviting your friends, or sponsoring an aspect of the OH! Zone event. For additional information, contact Matt Kirl at 619.238.1233 x830, or email mkirl@rhfleet.org
Here are just a few of our many special achievements!
- The Fleet is the regional leader in informal science education. We serve more students than any other San Diego museum: over 100,000 annually.
- The Fleet Inquiry Institute, our teacher-training program, focuses on transforming students’ curiosity into a new way of thinking and learning.
- The Fleet and SDG&E installed more than 10,000 square feet of solar panels on the roof of the Science Center, the first San Diego museum to install a solar power system of this magnitude.
- In 2008, the Fleet rebuilt its Dome theater—the first of its kind when in opened in 1973—making it the first and only NanoSeam Dome theater in the world.
- The City of San Diego honored the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center as a “Recycler of the Year,” for the third consecutive year (2008, 2009 and 2010).
- In 2010, the Fleet received LEED Silver Existing Building Operations & Maintenance Certification for its sustainable efforts. The Fleet is the first museum to receive LEED Silver Certification in San Diego.
