Limited Engagement! Through September 7 only!

The magic is back in San Diego! The Reuben H. Fleet Science Center welcomes Jason Latimer, the World Champion of Magic and judge on Syfy's Wizard Wars, to the Heikoff Giant Dome Theater for a special limited-engagement performance of a one-of-a-kind show. The Impossible Science Experience combines magic and science to create effects that no one thought could ever exist.

In addition to Jason's impressive credentials in the world of magic, the Fleet has appointed him the science center's Curator of Impossible Science. Read more about Jason's unique role here.

The Impossible Science Experience combines Jason’s jaw-dropping illusions with physics, psychology, chemistry, mathematics and technology.  In this show, you will experience:

  • A person walking through a solid object, right before your eyes
  • Light being bent and water being shaped
  • An enlightening and entertaining family-friendly show

Show dates and times:

Saturday & Sunday, August 8 & 9, 15 & 16, 29 and 303:30 and 4:30 p.m.

September dates to be announced. This show will close on Labor Day, Sept. 7, 2015. Don't miss it!

Meet Jason Latimer at the Impossible Science Festival at the Fleet, August 22 and 23, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day! The event will be based around five themes: invisibility, levitation, animation, transformation and super powers, and each theme incorporates demonstrations that festival attendees will be able to observe or try for themselves.

“Jason’s show is an exciting addition that will be sure to entertain and enlighten audiences,” said Dr. Steven Snyder, executive director of the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center. “We hope this show will remind all ages to never stop questioning what is real and what is possible.”

“The world was not shaped by its answers, it was shaped by its questions—and that next question could come from any of us,” said Latimer. “All the effects in the show were considered impossible at one time. They were just impossible situations with no solutions until one person questioned, until one person wondered beyond their answers. Whether it’s an illusion or not, the right question changes everything.”

Please note: The Impossible Science Experience is a special, limited engagement. No passes or membership vouchers or cards will be accepted for this show. Show admission includes access to all of the Fleet's interactive exhibits, including CIRCUS: Science Under the Big Top.

About Jason Latimer

Jason Latimer has spent his entire life wondering about one question: "What is possible?" In the pursuit of answering that childhood question, Latimer's ongoing education spans multiple fields of science, including mathematics, applied physics, chemistry, perceptual psychology and economics. Jason's research, work and performances have ushered in an entirely new genre of magic and illusion for the twenty-first century, rooted in applied sciences. Today, Latimer has stolen the spotlight as "the greatest magician working today" (Parade Magazine). Latimer's imagination has developed a style of magic on an unprecedented level. With seventeen consecutive championship titles and awards for his work, including the highest honor the world of magic can bestow on an individual, the title of "The Grand Prix 'Best Overall' World Champion of Magic," coupled with his recent title of series champion of the BBC One's six live specials, "The Magicians," Jason has globally raised the bar for magic with modern applied science. With numerous international television specials and appearances, Latimer's infectious love for the unknown is inspiring millions around the world to join in and ask, "What is possible?"
