Donate your body to science! We are looking for enthusiastic, service minded individuals to share their time and talents with us. As a Fleet volunteer, you’ll help spark wonder and inspire science discovery in kids and adults alike. We have a variety of volunteer opportunities that are essential to fulfilling our mission to inspire lifelong learning in the fields of science and technology. Most positions require a commitment of 12 hours per month for the duration of six months. From the Learning Labs to the gallery floor to behind the scenes administration, every volunteer is an invaluable addition to the Fleet family.

Interview: At the interview you will meet with members of our Volunteer Programs team. This will give us the chance to get to know you better and give you the opportunity to ask questions you have about our volunteer experience. If you are 15-17 years of age, you will be required to bring in two letters of reference to the scheduled interview. If you are a good fit for our program, we will contact you to sign up for an orientation and training.
Background: We complete a thorough background check on all staff, volunteer and interns who are 18 years or older. This check includes county, state and federal criminal records and databases as well as Sexual offender registries. Staff and volunteers must have a satisfactory record with no history of violent or sexual crimes or theft.
Placement :Volunteers will be assigned based on their interests, experience and the needs of the Fleet. Some assignments require an additional interview with department staff or training before placement is offered. An official assignment email and job description will be sent to volunteers when placement is complete. We ask for a commitment of 6 months or greater for all of our volunteering opportunities.
We welcome a small nominal donation of $5 to cover the cost of a uniform shirt.
